Car Donation FAQ's
What types of vehicles are eligible for donation?
Most charitable organizations accept any type of vehicles including cars,
trucks, RV's, sports utilities, motor homes, airplanes, farm equipment
and construction equipment.
What
information do I need to provide regarding my car donation?
A charity will need to know some basic information about the vehicle being
donated.
- Whether or not you possess the title to the vehicle
- The location of the vehicle
- General condition of the vehicle
Does my car have to be running to be eligible for donation?
Your vehicle does not need to be operational to be eligible for donation.
It must be in towing condition.
If I do not have the title to the vehicle will I still be able to
donate it to a charity?
A free and clear title is usually required, but not always necessary.
This is determined by the age of the vehicle and the state in which it
is registered. If you don't have your title or your registration is not
transferable you will need to request a duplicate title from your local
Department of Motor Vehicles.
Who
pays for the towing fees when you make a car donation?
The car donation is towed from your property at no expense to you. The
charity will typically make all the necessary arrangements to have the
vehicle taken off your property.
When arrangements are made for the pick-up what do I need to provide
the driver with?
- The keys
- Title
- Your signature authorizing the towing
