CharitiesOne way we can donate to charity is by donating our used car or vehicle. Not all charities have the means to accept car donations but there are many that do. Below you will find a list of reputable American and Canadian charities that accept vehicle donations to be used within their organization. American Charities: American Diabetes Association - The mission of the American Diabetes Association is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of people affected by diabetes. The organization works with a reputable car donation program that makes all the arrangements, handles the title transfer, and provides a tax receipt. American Diabetes Association Car Donations - Donate your car and get full fair market value as a tax deduction while helping people affected by diabetes. Special Kids Fund - You can donate your car, truck, RV, or boat to help care for the medically, educationally, and developmentally challenged. The towing will be free of charge and a tax receipt will be given. The ALS Association - The ALS Association is the only national not-for-profit health agency dedicated solely to the fight against ALS through research, patient and community services, public education, and advocacy. The Association's affiliate network includes chapters in communities throughout the nation. America's Car Donation Charities Center - You can donate your car, boat or RV to your preferred charity and receive full fair market value as a tax deduction. American Kidney Fund - The American Kidney Fund's Service Organization has arranged with the nation's largest car donation charity to run its program. You can donate your car, boat, truck, camper, or RV and receive a tax receipt for its fair market value. The car can be donated even if it's not running and all arrangements will be made. Cancer Fund of America - The proceeds from the car donation will help the charity, which is a non-profit organization. It will help relieve the financial burden of individuals with cancer and their families. It will not be used to conduct research, but provide support and services to financially impoverished cancer patients, those for whom research may be too late. Family Care Foundation - The Family Care Foundation provides humanitarian development and disaster relief in over 50 countries. Cars, trucks, boats, or RVs are accepted as a form of donation. The vehicle does not have to be in working condition and arrangements will be made for pick up, free of charge. And the necessary paperwork for your tax deduction will also be provided. Firefighters Burn Institute - Whether you car is running or not, the Firefighters Burn Institute will pick up your car, truck, RV, or boat free of charge. Approximately 70% of the proceeds from your vehicle donation will go directly to support programs for burn survivors and their families such as the Firefighters Kids Camp. Kars for Kids - This organization provides emotional, physical, and spiritual needs to distressed children and at-risk youth. You can choose to donate your car, boat, or RV and receive the full fair market value in return for tax purposes. And you’ll receive a free vacation! SIDS - Did you know that more children die of SIDS in a year than all who die of cancer, heart disease, pneumonia, child abuse, AIDS, cystic fibrosis and muscular dystrophy combined? Why not donate your car, truck, RV, boat, or camper to the SIDE Network. You’ll receive a tax deduction for its fair market value and the organization, in arrangement with the nation’s largest car donation center, will pick it up free of charge.
Canadian Charities: Canadian Hearing Society - The CHS provides a wide range of services to meet the needs of the deaf, deafened, and hard of hearing people. They will pick up your old vehicle and it will be recycled for parts or sold at dealer auctions. The proceeds are sent to CHS and you will receive a tax receipt for no less than $60. CSPCA - It is their mission to protect animals from neglect, abuse, and exploitation. Make a Donation-in-Kind and donate your vehicle to be used to provide emergency veterinary transportation within various cities. Kidney Foundation - The Kidney Car Program is a fundraising initiative in which old vehicles are towed free of charge and recycled. The donor will receive a tax receipt for the fair market value. The program operates in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec. The funds finance various programs such as research, patient services, and promotion of organ donation. MADD - MADD's mission is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this crime, and prevent underage drinking. Since its start in 1980, more than 2,300 anti-drunk driving laws have been passed. If you would like to support MADD, you can donate your vehicle. Whether it is running or not, cars, trucks, boats, or RVs will be accepted to help support their mission. MADDaboutCars.org will pick up your vehicle from your home or place of business, free of charge to the donor. It does not matter if the vehicle is damaged or in mint condition, all have a value. You will also receive an IRS deduction for the fair market value of your vehicle.
